Today was another day I wished I wasn't at work so I could go see the Kirtland's Warbler. What a great bird! This fall has been incredible. I am still giddy over the Philadelphia Vireo so I'll settle for that for now. Again I took my binocs to work as I have a good view from my desk of the live oaks in the parking lot. Did have a few good birds and a total of 7 warbler species from my desk:
Tennessee Warbler
N. Parula
Black-throated Blue W (male)
Yellow-throated Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Also had Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Rose-breasted Grosbeak (young male), Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Merlin, Monk Parakeets and the regular birds. Also took some time to observe the regulars and it was cool to observe the Blue Jays trying to hammer into the acorns in the oaks. The Common Grackles were the only other birds I saw eating the acorns. Also noticed how beautiful they are with the right light. No reason to envy the african glossy starlings. The resident Mockingbird is very aggressive and annoyingly chased off the YB Cuckoo and the Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
