Today, 10/19/11, the Key West Botanical Garden on stock island was closed because of the weather. (The sign on the entrance gate did state, however, that the "staff is present in the administration building", and the phone number was given.) The Masked Duck was clearly seen around 3:30 P.M., through the locked gate on the entrance road. The pond is large and only a tiny sliver of the western end of it is visible from the road, so it was extremely good luck that the duck was in view.
