Spent between 2-5pm at the park today, and there's still lots of good stuff around. Started at no-name, walked the whole back trail, then the paved area. I think that some birds either left or were moving around, because overall numbers didn't seem that large like the reports yesterday. Yellow-billed cuckoo numbers are still incredible- they are everywhere, in many cases 3 or 4 were visible perched at a time, and in all areas they were flying around. I couldn't make out any mangrove or black-billed. There were also indigos all over the place, and I saw male painteds in 4 seperate locations, once two right next to each other, and later one on the grass behind the restaurant, way out in the open. Other numerous species were grey catbird, red-eyed vireo, and blue-grey gnatcatcher. As for the warblers, yellowthroat, bt blue (of course!), redstart, palm, and ovenbird were all abundant. Other warblers were in small numbers. I got 3 black and white, 1 worm-eating, 3 parula, 1 magnolia, 1 cape may, at least 3 bay-breasted (one very well- marked), 1 chestnut-sided, and only 1 prairie. There were 3 scarlet tanagers, one really bright green with black wings. It was foraging inches away from a female type. There was one beautiful male summer tanager- as soon as I spotted it with the binoculars a cuckoo came crashing in and off it went. Other notables were 2 seperate wood pewees, white-eyed vireo, rose-breasted grosbeak, 1 blue grosbeak, merlin, and a small flock of bobolinks on the mound.
