I've installed a bird/butterfly garden in my backyard by the house with gumbo limbo and crepe mytle trees, butterfly plants, bird bath, and seed feeder, and boy it's paying off. The traffic started off with blue jays, rwbs, mourning and white winged doves, and common grackles. Then a pair of rbw showed up last week and are staying around making a racket. The male painted bunting showed up last week and stayed 4 days. Got a few good pix of him. I hope he returns. One the morning of 10/17 it was drizzling, but there was swarm of white flies in the gumbo limbo and crepe myrtle trees in my backyard. Also a jasmine bush has berries the birds were feeding on. Conditions were not suitable for picture taking.

There were 2-3 female black-throated blue warblers, and for a short time the male showed up. Wow, what a bird. Also the mixed warbler flock included about 6 female American redstarts, a young male prairie warbler, several palm warblers, and a blue-grey gnatcatcher.

To top it off a red-shouldered hawk stopped by and a flock of about 30 white ibises on the fairway behind my house.
