Jake Tucker called me at noon to tell me the Center was pretty birdy. I joined him for an hour of birding in drizzly and overcast weather, but the birds didn't seem to mind the bad weather. Saw the following:
Anhinga
Green Heron
Cooper's Hawk
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Eastern Wood-Pewee
White-eyed Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Yellow-throated Vireo
Blue Jay
BG Gnatcatcher
Swainson's Thrush
N. Mockingbird
Gray Catbird
Tennessee Warbler
N. Parula
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler (very common)
Black-throated Green Warbler (saw about 3 of them. A very confiding female caught a moth and ate it right at our feet!)
Prairie Warbler
A. Redstart (most common bird today, all over the place)
Black-and-white Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Ovenbird
Scarlet Tanager (one male and one female)
Cardinal
Rose-breasted Grosbeak (a group of about 5)
Indigo Bunting
Painted Bunting
Blue Grosbeak (group of about 4)
Spot-breasted Oriole
Common Grackle
Did not see any Palm Warblers!
Also a male Peafowl near Miami-Dade College entrance/exit. Must have the most beautiful shade of blue on the planet.
