I birded the Flamingo area on Sunday morning in an effort to get away from the storm. I started out going for passerines at a few of my favorite spots and I can tell you that the mosquitoes are generally horrendous in the area. That being said it was a decent migration day.
Raptors were streaming down the coast line towards the keys dominated by Broad-winged Hawks. I also had a few Short-tailed Hawks, Merlins, Pergrines, two Eagles, a N. Harrier, numerous Ospreys, and Red-shouldered Hawks that were enjoying frogs that the rains pushed out to the margins.
As Carlos Sanchez commented earlier there are shorebirds in the campground area shoreline. I wasn't able to ID most due to distance but did make out a group of Dowitchers and common stuff like Willet, Greater Yellowlegs, Spotted Sandpiper, and Ruddy Turnstone. I also enjoyed a couple Caspian Tern feeding just offshore.
Passerines migration was decent. In the Flamingo area and nearby swamp woodlands, I had the following:
Painted Bunting
Indigo Bunting
Red-eyed Vireo
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Ovenbird
N. Waterthrush
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Cape May Warbler
Com. Yellowthroat
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler
N. Parula
Hooded Warbler
Yellow Warbler
Yellow-breasted Chat
Am. Redstart
