TAS Cape Florida walk 10/2/11

Thirty great birders participated in the TAS walk in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. Our eclectic list has nice birds and some FOS birds, thanks to the excellent eyes and ears of the participants.

Warblers:

Ovenbird
Common Yellowthroat
American Redstart
Northern Waterthrush
Northern Parula
Western Palm Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Yellow-throated Warbler
Hooded Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler (numerous)
Blackburnian Warbler
Cape May Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Tennessee Warbler
Canada Warbler (up-close-and-personal!)

Raptors:
Merlin (2)
Peregrine Falcon (2)
Cooper's Hawk
Red-shouldered Hawk
Osprey (4 flying south)

Vireos:
White-eyed (heard)
Red-eyed
Yellow-throated

Other good birds:
Chuck-will's-Widow
Bobolink (~120)
Scarlet Tanager
White-crowned Pigeon
Belted Kingfisher
Great Crested Flycatcher
Painted Bunting

Before the group arrived, I had a Gray Catbird (first of the wintering pack) and Magnolia Warbler.
