The Sabine's Gull (a lifer for me)and Purple Sandpiper were still at Boynton on 11/20. Be patient on the gull; I arrived at 1300 and it did not appear until 1500, flying in over the north jetty. Once there, it landed in the sand with a mixed gull/tern flock and allowed close approach. When viewed in a flock like this, it is much more apparent how much smaller it is than the Laughing Gulls. Also, the guide books do not do justice to the spectacular wing pattern while in flight!
The Purple sandpiper was on the rocks alongside each jetty at various times, along with omnipresent Ruddy Turnstones.
Other birds at the inlet included Herring Gull, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Sanderling, Willet, Black-bellied Plover, and Black-hooded Parakeet.
