This morning Christi Carmichael and I birded the Flamingo area for about an hour. Highlights included:
-Ovenbirds and Norhtern Waterthrush at Snake Bight Trailhead
-Spectacular flock of snowy egrets flying over Eco Pond
-Brown thrashers, common ground-doves,several warblers, red-eyed vireo, and other forest dwellers in woods around the campground
-Two bald eagles in dead trees in walk-in campground
-Lots of shorebirds, including pectoral sandpipers, American avocet (1), marbled godwits, and others in puddles in walk-in campground
-And--you guessed it--lots of mosquitoes in grassy, shady spots!
