Birded the park for a couple of hours this morning. Numbers of migrants were not high and most warblers were single species sightings. No vireos at all. Highlight was a Sharp-shinned Hawk after a pure white Rock Pigeon, larger than it, which it caught and pinned to the ground on the road in the park but was interrupted by an oncoming pickup truck. Lucky pigeon. Some birds seen were:
Sharp-shinned Hawk
Chuck-will's-widow
Downy Woodpecker
Loggerhead Shrike
BG Gnatcatcher
Parula
Yellow-throated Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Worm-eating Warbler
Am. Redstart
Common Yellowthroat
Ovenbird
Baltimore Oriole (4 in a ficus tree)
