Matheson had a lower concentration of migrants than seen earlier in the week, but there were still some birds around, including point-blank views of Chuck-will's-widow:

2 Chuck-will's-widow
3 Ruby-throated Hummingbird
1 Yellow-throated Vireo
2 Red-eyed Vireo
11 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
17 Ovenbird
1 Worm-eating Warbler
3 American Redstart
3 Northern Parula
4 Black-throated Blue Warbler
2 Yellow-throated Warbler
3 Prairie Warbler

Encouraged by Bill Boeringer's post later in the day from A.D. Barnes, I made a brief 30 minute stop at Matheson where I relocated the Blackburnian Warbler in the set of oaks around the first parking spaces just towards the left of the first T-intersection. I was then surprised to also find a very active, drab, wing-twitching BELL'S VIREO feeding in the same live oaks!
The long tail and elongate body structure initially threw me off towards thinking it was a small flycatcher until I got a good look. This individual was not particularly bright, with faded yellow wash on the flanks, pale bill, weak broken eye-ring, and a single bright wing-bar. The bird would occasionally give a soft scold call was it foraged. It was not particularly receptive to tape or pishing, as it was too preoccupied with feeding.

Even on the 'slow' days, there are good birds to be found...it is fall migration!
