I have been trying the last several days to get good enough pictures of the birds going in and out of the cavity. They are there about 80% of the time I check them out. The birds can often be seen taking small fruits into the cavity, and then flying off while the mate wathes close by and fends off the ever persistent starlings which want the holes obviously for them selves. Watching the two cousins duke it out is quite entertaining, and the mynas always win and give some of their triumphant, wild, calls.
On another note, a Common Myna pair has made residence in a street light pole along the 95th street exit off of I-95. They made their succesful nests there last year, too. I have found several other COMY nest sites along Biscayne Boulavard and 25th Street in North Miami.
