I never got a good look at the third bird who seemed to follow the other two from a distance, and now agree it is a house finch, who I see in the beach area, but usually not on the gruond. I can't find the weavers any more. They seemed happy eating grass seeds in parking lot dividers and were smaller than I thought they would be from photos.
