Urban hawk

As luck would have it, this afternoon at approximately 5: 30 p.m., as I was sitting at a parking space at Galliano, (between Miracle Mile and Andalusia), I was shocked to witness a hawk attack a pigeon. It forced the pigeon to the ground out of my sight - and mere seconds after, when I thought it was over for the poor fellow, the hawk flew (minus pigeon) up to the post holding the traffic light.
Only seconds later the pigeon flew from under the vehicle parked in front of mine. The last I saw, it was flying towards Miracle Mile with the hawk in hot pursue. I hope neither got hit by traffic! They were both flying that low.
Talk about urban nature!!!! Of course, no camera at hand.
Judging by the coloring and size it seemed like a red tailed - very light colored breast, belly and the underside of the wings, with some streaks of brown. Dark on top.
I'm still in awe. . .
