This time of year there are lots of juveniles out there. My year old White-eyed Parakeet looks like a hybrid because he still does not have full adult plumage. The underwing has a motled red and yellow patch, not the expected pattern with the red and yellow separated.
Not only that, but not all parakeets have the perfect plumage pattern shown in field guides or the hundreds of photos on the internet.
Some times you just have to watch individual birds grow up, because next year there will be more juveniles to confuse you.
