For birders interested in attending the TAS Sod Farm Field Trip on Saturday, August 27, 2011, we will be leaving the Doc Thomas House at 6:00 a.m. sharp and will be congregating with birders from points north, south, east, and west at the entrance of the Holey Land/Rotenberger W.M.A. on U.S. 27 on the Broward/Palm Beach County Line at 7:00 a.m. You will see the large electrical poles on the west side of US 27 heading on a south/north vector. When the poles turn to the west, alongside the L-5 Levee, you will see the cars from our group parked just off of the west side of US 27. If you are heading north on US 27 to the turnoff you will have to make a short u-turn to get there. There is a brown sign directing you to the Holey Land/Rotenberger W.M.A . Bring scope, binoculars, field guides, two-way radios, water, snacks and bug spray. We will be eating lunch at a restaurant in the vicinity of Belle Glade or Clewiston. This has been an exceptional year for shorebird migration. (See previous posts)Hope to see y'all there. Life is good......................... Can you say Curlew Sandpiper?
