The Roseate Terns have been nesting on the Marathon Government Center since 1996. The only other colony of Roseates in Florida is at Pelican Shoal, an island located 5 miles south of Boca Chica Naval Airstation. This island, by the way, is closed to the public from April 1-August 31 by the FL Fish & Wildlife Commission.
