On Monday, August 1st a co-worker and I poled in to Snake Bight to look for a lone Flamingo that had reportedly been seen by Garl Harrold of Garl's coastal kayaking. Since all of the Bight is now a pole and troll zone, we poled a small skiff in from the East side of the Bight. We found the single bird at about 11am in the spot that they typically hang out in the summer at low tide, about half way across the Bight, all the way in the back, just off the mangroves. While we continued to pole to the West, we kept an eye on the bird and as the tide rose, it slowly made its way (in short flights) to the West. At the peak high tide in the afternoon, the bird was in a location in which it would have been clearly visible from the dock at the end of Snake Bight trail.
