Upon arriving at Matheson and not far from the ribbon marking the spot I heard the Vireo call with a scold several times. After Anil showed up we quickly located the bird, but it wouldn't show it's self much.
I stayed hoping for a better look than the one I around 7:30 am... Finally at 9:00am the Thick-billed Vireo showed its self for a few second and I got a great look. Then I lifted my camera for a shot and saw nothing but a foggy haze... The humidity was incredible.
Chip Clouse from Colorado with the ABA was in town for other business and stopped by Matheson to see the Thick-billed Vireo. He also got a good look at the bird. It was good to see Chip again, the last time I saw him was at the ABA conference here in South Florida in 1997.
There were several others there during the morning... I believe all saw the bird at least briefly.
