Lori and I got to the Palm Beach sod farms area about 9:30 and added a few species we hadn't seen on Friday on our way down. Along SR 80, about a mile or so east of the intersection of Browns Farm Road there were two Upland Sandpipers standing in the very low cut sod on the south side of the road. Vince McGrath pulled up as we were viewing them.

Vince pointed us back to an area we had passed when coming in from Belle Glade. Again, along SR 80, but this time 1.5 mile east of the intersection of Duda Farm Road was an area with standing water near the road. There was a convenient place to pull off and the place was loaded with birds. The best was a flock of six Wilson's Phalaropes, a dozen or so Pectoral Sandpipers, 30+ Long-billed Dowitchers and dozens and dozens of Stilt Sandpipers. the numbers of Black-necked Stilts and yellowlegs was impressive.

Questions for the locals. I photographed Monk Parakeets both at Tavernier and Marathon this weekend. How far south along the keys are they now established? I also photo'd a Common Myna at Key Largo. Are they any further south?

Warblers seen on Key Largo included tons of Prairies, three American Redstarts, a half dozen Northern Parulas, several Black-and-whites, perhaps 10 Yellow-throateds and one Louisiana Waterthrush.

We gave as much blood as we could to the local mosquitoes. They were gracious hosts, especially those at Key Largo Hammocks Botanical Site. I think we only brought one car-travler home with us. I'll be UPSing him to Toe's tomorrow. I'll pay postage, Toe, it's on me.
