I guess the cat's out of the bag...or is it wood ducks? These ducks appeared quite suddenly late Thursday at the south end of the Hoechoka Hammock campus (Sawgrass and University) The canal system that surrounds the Mary Help of Christians Church and school is now a showcase of land stewardship and the people are pleased that we have attracted otter, widgeons, scores of mottled ducks, now wood duck broods, and many white ibis as well as osprey, red-shouldered hawk, and in season (Toe will let you know) migrating warblers, catbirds and many other species.

Since the canals are part of the SFWM they inter-connect and the water is low allowing ducks and the otters to pass from one canal to another. You are pleased to come and see (as cajunspice did) but obviously there is no guarantee the duck family will be present.

To the best of our knowledge we have no brood-trees on HH land so we figure that this brood came in from the adjoining areas.
