May 22, 2004 at about 2000, I observed a small, silent nighthawk amongst several Common nighthawks. The Common nighthawks were calling and displaying. Whenver the little guy flew through the area, the others would dive at him/her until the intruder left their area. I dismissed it at the time without vocal confirmation, but with all of the recent extralimital sightings of Antillean nighthawk, I wonder.
The bird was observed about 7.7 miles south of US 1 on the east side of Card Sound Road. There is a road leading east across from some sort of industrial area. You can drive a short distance to a barricade.
