Burrowing owls and other species

I recently alerted FFWCC about a burrowing owl burrow because I saw some people (workers) around it and they did not seem to be birders, so I was concerned. Before it is disturbed, you might want to check it out. I've seen 7 owls at one time and there very well may be more. I only hope that the Commission does not put orange tape around it calling attention to it. The info is safe on this board though, I hope.

Northbound Turnpike, just past Red Road (just South of Broward County) is a land fill. Scan the fenceline and about 2/3 to 3/4 past where the fill begins you'll see the burrow (halfway under the fence) or some owls perched on the fence itself. It is between a sign and some palms, (both much closer to the road than the fence line...for reference). They'll let you get within 20 feet or so for some great photo ops.

Also on this fence I have photographed Eastern meadowlarks, gray catbirds, loggerhead shrikes, and Andean condors (just kidding).
