Small wedges of ducks are appearing at Hoechoka Hammock each day. A group of 25 arrived yesterday. All are mottled and about half are lingering. No other species so far. Being basically non-migratory these "newbies" must be shuttling in from around the area. A field observation: the grass eating carp (about 3 feet long) scare the daylights from the ducks when they surface.
Otter tracks are apparent every morning in the "sand" traps so they are still present.
Hoechoka Hammock: Sawgrass and University, NE corner of the grounds of Mary Help of Christians Church.
