Today, while walking to the Miami Shores Recreation Center to play some football, I noticed a large amount of psittacids. I was most happy to find two Orange-winged Parrots on top of a dead palm, and an immature parrot poking his head out of a hole. A few Chestnut-fronted Macaws, White-winged and Monk Parakeets, and a couple flocks of aratinga type parakeets. Most of the aratingas I saw were Blue-crowned. The Spot-breasted Orioles near my house (115 NE 94th) now have young, and are calling in about 200 feet west of the nest. Near my school, I saw a Common Myna and a couple more White-winged Parakeets. And right now a few Hill Mynas are calling from down my block. A Yellow-crowned Night-heron flew just over my house a couple minutes ago. Nice new yard bird.
