man the birding is great at Everglades National Park! Along the main park road I noticed an influx of Mourning Doves (perhaps because they're being shot at outside the park) along w/several flocks of Savannah Sparrows and at least one Grasshopper Sparrow (between Paurotis and Ninemile ponds) plus some Phoebes. Around Snake Bight appeared a Peregrine, possibly interested by the flocks of Barn and Rough-winged Swallows, or perhaps the slightly chunkier White-crowned Pigeons. At Flamingo a Merlin shot by, then a light morph Short-tailed Hawk. The buntings at Eco Pond, which were all indigo a few days ago, were now all painted, and amongst them was a Clay-colored Sparrow (a lifer for flamingo old-timer Brian Ettling). I would mention all the rest, but I don't want to spoil it for you!!!
