This bothers me as Toe's idea (maybe issued in jest?) could lead to bad guys knowing when to come to homes, or come under cover as "birders". To make a statement that birders are welcome is to give a public invitation or license to the general public. That renders police protection problematic and if the bird is unusual enough could even compound traffic problems on narrow residential roads.
I believe we all know the identification of one another and perhaps a coded "hot-line" or phone line of sorts would be better than saying "y'all come"
