South Dade Wetlands

Water is no longer flowing into the South Dade wetlands on SW 232 Street; as a result, the wetlands are no longer as wet. Waterfowl are concentrating in the pools that remain in the southwest section of the impoundment, but it doesn't look like it'll last for long.

Ducks seen were Blue-winged and Green-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, American Wigeon, Lesser Scaup and Ring-necked Duck. Smooth-billed Ani were heard calling on the southern side of the impoundment.

A White-tailed Kite was seen in the banana plantation in back of Homestead Airport.
