The day started off with Mangrove Cuckoos singing at Black Point Park, then one obligingly coming into view and perching out in the open on a snag. The bird began calling and stayed out in the open for over ten minutes.

Two Red-whiskered Bulbuls and one White-crowned Pigeon were seen in the neighborhood north of Kendall-Baptist Hospital. Two Hill Mynas were also seen here, apparently having attempted nesting in a Royal Palm snag. Hill Mynas were also seen at US1 right before Stanford Dr.

Spot-breasted Oriole still singing and performing well near the bookstore on the University of Miami campus, apparently feeding on an exotic fig it finds to its liking.

Ocean Bank on Le Jeune Rd was reliable again for White-winged Parakeets, but have apparently shifted their center of activities a couple blocks east into the neighborhood. I had a large flock of 20 or more individuals strewn across several mango trees in people's backyards.

Mitred Parakeets were seen at the University of Miami, Kendall-Baptist Hospital, and Dadeland Mall in good numbers. Two Yellow-chevroned Parakeets flew over in the neighborhood north of the hospital.

A Rallus sp. (King or Clapper?) was flushed from the side of the levee at Dump Marsh. Only had in-flight, silhouetted views as it flushed and ran into the reeds. I chose not to tape the bird to lure it back out.

I think that's everything of note.

Carlos
