Well Brian you're right about visiting birders. I just left Boca Raton after 4 nights in Palm Beach County. Sure would have been nice to know a bird like that was less than 2 miles from my hotel room! We birded for 8 days in South Florida and didn't see a birder anywhere, not 1! Although we missed this life bird, we got super views of 3 Red-cockaded Woodpeckers and numerous Bachman's Sparrows in PB county at DuPuis Management area. It's too bad most Florida birders stop birding after migration, but then that happens to some extent here in NJ too.
