A kettle of 6 swallow tailed kites were soaring over my house at about 4 pm this afternoon, just north of the intersection of Red and Bird roads. They disappeared in the direction of Bird and Granada(towards Doctors Hospital and UM) where one or two can usually be seen in the appropriate seasons. This is the largest number I have seen in this location in the last 5 years, and for anyone interested in seeing one, if past experience is any indication, some or all of these birds will be around the neighborhood for a while.
Further up Red Road I recently had the chance to see the new big bird in town-the Airbus A380.Viewed from the rear, the severely arced wings with flaps down reminds me of any number of raptors whose rear view was all my camera was able to capture.
