Last night, I completed nightjar surveys in Homestead and Everglades National Park for the Southeastern Nightjar Survey. Along the Homestead route, I heard 7 Common Nighthawks and 4 Chuck-will's-widows. Along the Pinelands route in Everglades National Park, I heard 3 Common Nighthawks and 21 Chuck-will's-widows. Also heard during my travels were one each of Barn Owl, Great Horned Owl and Eastern Screech-Owl, all heard within ENP.

Prior to starting the surveys, I visited the mound south of Gate 15 in ENP. South of the mound, I saw a female Snail Kite and a Limpkin and heard several Least Bitterns. On the north side of the mound, I saw two Barn Swallows. While driving to Royal Palm Visitor Center to begin my first nightjar survey, I spotted a python slithering across Research Road.
