I have had a very attractive, entertaining first spring male Redstart for several days now. He comes early in the morning about 0730 and works the trunks of all my trees in the backyard. My backyard is over 75% shaded and he has come within several feet of me while he is foraging. As the Peterson Warbler Field Guide mentions, the lores is black and he has many black spots on the throat/breast plus a black band across the breast. I believe he stays all day as at anytime that I look in the backyard throughout the day he is present.
