After not getting a photo of the CONW at Baggs, I decided to try for the one at Barnes late in the afternoon. Barnes has a more open understory, so I figure I might get it in a better location for a photo. I arrived after 5:00, just as Dave and Jeanette were leaving 2 minutes after seeing the bird. I slowly made my way to the area, only to find Mr. Marathon Man-in-training jogging up and down the trail. I knew I'd had to wait until he got tired of running before I had any chance as relocating the bird. After what seemed like 300 laps, he left and the place got quiet. I relocated the CONW near the old butterly garden north of the boardwalk, but it flew before I got a shot. I moved to the west trail and looking back in the direction of the east trail found the bird again, and this time it was quietly skulking in the open. I now had a chance to circle back from the south and catch it in the open! No sooner had I taken my first step, than two people on bicycles came down the trail and up around the side where the bird was at. (&*78(&^$%$#%$!!!!! Of all the freakin places to ride their bikes, they had to do it there so late in the day just as I try to take my photo. There is of course a sign that states no bikes on the trail. But, this is Miami, and the prevailing philosophy is after all: rules - eh.
So, two parks, two Connecticuts, no photos. I truly S-U-C-K.
