When I was in Tavernier on Saturday to view the Antillean Nighthawk that has been regular there for the past couple of weeks, Stuart Pimm, who first reported the bird(s), briefly joined us in the parking lot outside of Tasters restaurant. I mentioned to him that while Tavernier was a more convenient location than Marathon to view the nighthawks, a location on the mainland would be even more convenient. I didn't think it would take only 24 hours for my wish to come true. Way to go, Rafael!
I do four nightjar surveys in southern Miami-Dade County every summer, but mostly in rural areas, including in Everglades National Park. I have yet to record an Antillean on any of these surveys, but maybe it's only a matter of time. I would be most interested in hearing about any other sightings in Miami-Dade or elsewhere on the mainland.
