Several Sandhill Cranes were acquired ~8 years ago by a woman who purchased waterfowl for Crandon Gardens in the mid-1990's. They were rehab birds and unable to fly. They produced young over the years who are free flying and can be seen on Virginia Key and Key Biscayne. Later generations reproduced and there is at least 1 successful nest this year.
