Today, a White-rumped Sandpiper was feeding about 25 feet out from the pumping station at Cutler Wetlands (mudflats?) at around 900AM. Two Stilt Sandpipers and dozens of Semipalmated Plovers, Semipalmated Sandpipers, Black-necked Stilts, and Least Sandpipers rounded out the rest of the shorebird entourage. Cave Swallows were actively collecting nesting material, including both mud and the fluff of cattails. Least Terns were paired up and displaying to each other -- hopefully they won't decide to nest on the mudflats, or they will be flooded out once the rains start.

We really need some good rain quick or the area will completely dry out within a week or two.

Carlos
