Today while birding with Noreen and Tom from Massachusetts and Rick from Canada, we talked with Jerry Zell and Carol Perron from Port St. Lucie. They were both sitting on the bench near the bathrooms next to the Blacksmith shop in Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park, Key West. They causally told us about some warblers that they had seen and a flycatcher. I said, oh...we had a Great-crested Flycatcher did you see that? Carol said, no we had a "Fork-tailed Flycatcher" over in the trees there. As soon as I looked, sure enough there sitting at the very top of a Jamaica Dogwood tree was a Fork-tailed Flycatcher! We soon had great looks at the bird as it actively feed from the top of the tree. It moved from the trees just south and west of the bathrooms, over to a large Strangler Fig tree on the hill by the Blacksmith shop. It did this several times while we watched it given us great views.
About 7-species of warbler were seen as well as several Roseate Terns feeding along the beach. More birds were seen with the Least Terns at the military base to the east.
