The spot-breated oriles around my neighborhood have exhibited similar behavior. The last two summers, a younger bird (orange with a black spot across the upper breast) followed the pair around while they were with thier 2-3 fledgelings. I never saw them actually feed them (they were already on thier own, but following the parents). Since spot- breasteds look the same, i'm not sure if it was a young male or female. I have heard about 1st year males of other oriole species doing this- so maybe it's the same with them too.
