Following is a summary of birds seen or heard in Monroe County during the North American Migration Count on Saturday. Thanks to the following for assisting with the count in Monroe: Bill Boeringer, John Boyd, Dick Cunningham, Nancy Freedman, Rafael Galvez, Brennan Mulrooney and Juan Valadez. Areas covered included Everglades National Park, the Loop Road portion of Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida Bay (where most of the shorebirds were seen, by Juan and Rafael), and the Florida Keys from Key Largo to Big Pine Key.
