Highlights of this spring's migration count for the Homestead area:

Lucky Hammock:
Lingering Blackpoll Warblers (6)
Northern Bobwhite (calling)

SW 217th Ave. ditch:
Whooly-necked Stork (See Brian Rapoza's earlier post from 04/15)

Black Point Jetty:
Mangrove Cuckoo (heard only)
Red-breasted Merganser
Raul and I found an injured large white gull off the tip of the jetty. Unfortunately, it did not turn out to be a Glaucous. After 3 hours of research and study, we came to the conclusion that this gull most likely was a first-summer partly albinistic or bleached Herring Gull. Neither Raul nor I had ever seen a Herring like that.
