Alison and I went to Black Point Park this evening (7:30) in hopes of seeing a Mangrove Cuckoo. This was our second trip to Black Point in two days, and we struck out on cuckoos both times. However, when we got to the roundabout past the parking lots, the first thing we heard was a Smooth-billed Ani calling from the mangroves to the east. It called for 3 to 5 minutes and then was quiet for the rest of the time we were there. I also had a Common Nighthawk flying and peenting over the marina.
