Ken,

We see roost rings like this on a regular basis during migration. We also use radar to track Purple Martin roosts during the summer months by looking for the signature roost ring on radar. Radar images are very useful for determining important stop over sites for migrants as well as finding wading bird breeding colonies.
Yesterday two roost rings were visible on radar. If you visit badbirdz2 and look at yesterdays regional radar you will see two distinct roost rings during the last few frames. Look east of the Tampa area and you will see a roost ring. The second roost ring was visible just west of Palm Bay.
We feel that the roost ring you are pointing out are most likely waders departing from their roost. Cool stuff!
