I went kayaking in ENP today(before they close the park) and went from West Lake to the north end of Long Lake. At the West Lake launch basin, I observed 4 Northern Shovelers together with 2 Blue-winged Teal and 11 Mottled Ducks. Also seen or heard were 4 American Crows, 1 Belted Kingfisher, 1 White-eyed Vireo, 1 Osprey and 1 Roseate Spoonbill. Along the south shore of West Lake were 2 Anhingas, 2 Little Blue Herons, 1 Osprey, 1 Great Blue Heron, 2 Great Egrets, and 10 singing Prairie Warblers in the mangroves. At the north end of Long Lake I flushed 40 Blue-winged Teal that flew about 200m to the other side of the lake & joined a raft of 30 other B-W Teal. Also observed where the Teal landed were about 50 American Coots. I was surprised to see so many Blue-winged Teal still down here. Are they late migrants?
