Regular members of the birding group are peeling off and returning north just like the birds themselves. Soon the spring migration will come to an end and we'll await the return next fall. (These organized walks continue through April for anyone interested.)

Among the standard list of waders we had an unusually large number of Snowies, Greens, Tricoloreds, and American Bitterns (every time you turned around, there was a bittern!).

There were quite a few Purple Gallinules, but there was one in particular (subject of today's photo) that was taking a sun bath giving us spectacular views. And we had our First-Of-Season Black-necked Stilts fly over, squawking away.

And as for warblers, we had Palm, Prairie, Pine, Myrtle, and Common Yellowthroat. Hopefully the cold front coming south today will cause some migrants to stop for a while.
