Hi! I live relatively near to your area and observed a marked increase in bird activity today. I had many female Red-winged Blackbirds, a few males and 5-6 Painted Buntings. I am still seeing the immature male with his orange/bright peach/yellow breast/belly area and about four green buntings. I have one regular adult male. They were in competition today with the Red-winged Blackbirds. Usually, the buntings pretty much have the back yard feeders to themselves as most birds seem to prefer my front/side yard feeders. I also have a returning Red-bellied Woodpecker that colorwise lives up to his name more so than any other I have observed. The redness not only is quite bright on his belly but distinct blotches of red are noted on the upper breast. I thought my female Ruby-throated hummer was already gone untill I saw a blur of movement near my nectar feeder hanging under my Mango tree. She had not been seen for over a week. She flew almost vertically to the top of the tree where in full view she would sit preening and cleaning her beak on a horizontal branch with a small Mango hanging off on the end. I am also seeing a BlueJay pair,a pair of Cardinals,Bronzed and Brown-headed Cowbirds. I saw one Shiny Cowbird today. The red epaulet of the male Red-winged Blackbird is amazing when magnified by a scope. The Monk and Chevroned- winged(yellow) parakeets were at the front(and a squirrel too). A Gray Catbird appeared at the back birdbath splashing for a prolonged length of time. I did not see any warblers.
