The North American Spring Migration Count will be held on Saturday, May 8. In Florida, this count is now sponsored by the Florida Ornithological Society (FOS).

If you have the ability to find and accurately identify birds, your assistance is requested. Counters are needed in both Miami Dade and Monroe Counties. (Contact information for other counties, as well as background information on the count, is available on the FOS website: http://www.fosbirds.org/namc/Spring_2004.htm).

You may count birds in an area as small as your backyard or neighborhood. E-mail me if you would like to participate. To avoid overlapping count areas, I will need to know exactly where you will be counting, and will let you know whether or not that area is already being covered (many of the area's birding hotspots will be assigned to experienced counters). I will send you (as e-mail attachments) detailed instructions, as well as the tally sheet and rare bird report form used for the count.

Hope you can assist!
