When we left the gull 20 min ago, it was at the spit around lifeguard station #9. At various points it had flow to sandbars north and south before returning.
I'll post my pictures later tonight, including a couple not great flight pictures. I don't want to duplicate the conversation from BRDBRAIN, but one thing I was struck by in my photos and looking through the scope is that the orbital ring appears far more orange than red. Thr legs were a very dull yellow, even to the point of having a greenish tint in the evening light. The webbing of the feet had a pinkish tint to it.
