I birded and explored my neighborhood of El Portal (North Dade) this morning for a couple of hours. The birds were very vocal. Spring is here. The usual resident birds were seen and some highlights were Cooper's Hawk, Kestrel, White-winged Dove, Yellow-chevroned Parakeet, White-eyed Parakeet, a pair of noisy Chestnut-fronted Macaws, a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, Palm Warblers and a singing Prairie Warbler. A canal contained Moorhens, Coots, DC Cormorants, Great and Little Blue Herons. Heard, but did not see, Peacock and Gray Catbird. Nice mix of birds in the neighborhood!
