Fort Zach does not always hold it's birds. Many birds arrive their because it is the first land they hit when coming off the ocean. Often they continue on through the island or island-hop their way up the keys. I remember birding Fort Zach one day when Carl Goodrich was there. We kept crossing paths and comparing notes. By the end of the morning we had both seen several birds that the other didn't simply because we were not in the right place during the short time the birds were passing through the park.
In the case of spindalis, it could have moved on to Indigenous Park, the botanical garden, or simply taken up camp in a fruiting fig tree in someone's yard. It might even still be in the park. They can be hard to see when they are not feeding.
